Empowering Rural Kava Farmers: Kavasseur “Tanoa Kava Talk Forums” Announcement

The Kavasseur website and “Tanoa Kava Talk Forum” believes in a free and fair market place. We are proud to announce that we will be working towards a more united Kava community that connects Kava drinkers to the hard working Kava farmers and their families that are the foundation of the Kava supply chain.

This will involve publishing periodic pieces on the social, cultural, political, and economic realities of Kava farming. Most Kava farmers are smallholders in the Pacific Islands who aggregate and sell crops to distributors. This creates considerable challenges in identifying and labeling Kava. It is also creates a market imbalance between large plantation owners and smaller cooperatives and collective sellers. We want to simultaneously empower these Kava farmers and the Kava drinkers who enjoy their products. This involves leveling the playing field for Kava growers.

In essence, one goal of the new Forums will be to increase our understanding of the agricultural value chain of Kava from rural farm to urban shell.

Bula to better things to come!
